Parents who invest in quality and advanced home security systems are on the right track. With burglaries often taking place at residences, it’s best not to be complacent when it comes to securing the home.
The New York Times reported that in 2010, some 36 million security systems were recorded in the U.S. Half of them were installed in residential properties or 16 percent of all homes in that year alone.
In the U.S., 2009 data showed nearly 2.2 million burglaries took place. This accounted for 23.6 percent of the property crimes committed in that particular year. Common crimes reported were forcible entry, unlawful entries and forcible entry attempts.
