Whats the perfect gift for new parents? They have obviously already done lots of shopping and they probably already have many of the baby related things they need, so what can you buy them that is practical, memorable and beautiful? Lets go through some of the popular gift ideas for new parents.
- A family portrait
Many new parents are not thinking of a portrait right away, so it would be a great gift for them if you could organize one and pay for it. They may be tired from taking care of the baby, so arrange to have the photographer come home if they can. Once the portrait is processed, frame it yourself and send it to them with a congratulations card.
- A post partum recovery kit
This one is specifically for mom to help her get back to her feet sooner. It includes tea, recovery bath herbs, bottom spray, happy mama spray, and bottom balm and you may find other items depending on where you buy. Some are specific to CS deliveries, but both kinds are pretty cheap and make a great gift.
- Vouchers
If you can get a shopping voucher, it will help new parents buy whatever they need. Many times, all the pre-baby shopping has taken up lots of money and if you chip in, you will definitely have done something great.
- A maid service
New parents will love you for this one. Organize to have someone come in and clean the house, do laundry and even cook if they can. This way, parents can spend with baby or resting.
You can organize to have someone come in to stay with the baby and allow mom and dad to go away for a few hours they need the away time so that they can come home refreshed and ready for another round of baby.
- Movie tickets or restaurant bookings
This one goes hand in hand with the above suggestion. How about allowing them an evening out at the movies? Just buy the tickets, call the sitter and don’t let new mom and dad have any excuse not to go. In the same way, you can organize a special restaurant dinner for them all paid for so that all they need to do is turn up and enjoy themselves.
The biggest and best gift for new parents though is for them to know that you are there any time they need help. New babies can be tough and as a new parent, nothing comes more appreciated than a friend to support and help them along the way.
